E-Discovery Records Information Management

What's New

LexisNexis Launches Electronic Discovery and Records Information Management Services (EDRIM) for Government

Your customers need e-Discovery and records information management expertise to address new federal and state & local court procedural rules and an increasing array of mandated record retention policies. You can now sell this expertise to them through LexisNexis EDRIM consulting. This new capability is just one component of a wide portfolio of related LexisNexis products and services including the recently launched Digital Asset Management (DAM) that you can sell.

Multiple situations can drive a customer's need for these services. These include:

  • Government agency is being sued
  • Government agency is suing or investigating another party
  • Government agency is subpoenaed to contribute to a civil matter
  • Congressional inquiries
  • Need to improve its ability to meet Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requirements
  • Need to meet records retention requirements
The consulting team to perform these services is composed of experts from the former LexisNexis USLM Applied Discovery solution team, DAM consultants, and Government Consultants. The objective is to combine legal and technical expertise with a deep understanding of the customer, to help them comply with ever increasing e-Discovery in litigation and records management requirements.

Overview

The LexisNexis e-Discovery and Records Information Management (EDRIM) services team will help customers meet e-Discovery and records management expectations and requirements. Whereas the product market has become increasingly commoditized, the demand for the unique value that the LexisNexis services team brings is in high demand. EDRIM will be software neutral in that this consulting is not being done to sell related software solutions of LexisNexis such as Concordance. However, as appropriate, the EDRIM team will advise the customer of the applicability of the company's software solutions.

EDRIM offers a suite of consulting services geared to meet the varying needs of the market. The offerings are loosely defined and can be expanded to include additional services and/or products. These service packages are:

  • Quick Look Assessments (QLA);
  • Assessment and Gap Analysis (detailed ESI Discovery Action Plan); note: ESI stands for Electronically Stored Information, and
  • IT Systems Data Mapping.

Why is this a good time for LexisNexis to bring this consulting capability to the Government market?

  • Court procedural rules have been tightened increasing the responsibility of government agencies to produce electronic documents and content in litigation or be subject to a variety of penalties including monetary.
  • The topic is "top of mind" for many in government - key subject at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers conference in 2007.
  • The e-Discovery market is growing
  • e-Discovery software and services to grow 30+% annually through 2011 (1)
  • Total electronic discovery market (services & consulting) was $2B in 2006(2)
  • Most governments are not being proactive to address and there is much confusion in our customer base as to what needs to be done
  • A singular focus on government can be a strong differentiator.
